Who shows up to the hospital, the funeral, the bankruptcy, the rock bottom, you never thought you would hit. Stop looking for the one who makes the good days better. Any mediocre person make can do that part. The good days run on their own steam. Life guarantees the fire. It guarantees the pain. You simply cannot avoid the suffering no matter how hard you try to dodge it. So stop looking for a playmate to share the highlights with. Find the person you are willing to walk through hell with, hand in hand without letting go. That is the person worth marrying. Not the one who looks good next to you on Instagram. The one who would still be there if the cameras turned off forever. The one whose presence in the worst moments of your life made the worst moment survivable. Anyone can love you on a Saturday night. Find the partner who loves you on a Tuesday at 3am when everything is falling apart. That is the only kind of love that actually means anything when life gets real.
