This is a glacier. This is an iceberg. What's the difference? A glacier is a huge mass of ice that slowly moves across land. An iceberg is a chunk of ice that has broken off a glacier and floats in the sea. This is an island. This is a peninsula. What's the difference? An island is completely surrounded by water. A peninsula is surrounded by water on most sides but is still connected to the mainland. This is a frog. This is a toad. What's the difference? A frog usually has smooth, moist skin and long legs for jumping. A toad usually has dry, bumpy skin and shorter legs for walking or short hops. This is sleet. This is hail. What's the difference? Sleet is made of tiny ice pellets that form during winter as raindrops freeze before reaching the ground. Hail forms inside powerful thunderstorms where layers of ice build up into much larger hailstones.
