Is he a whopping 30 US states, including New York and California, are suing Meta for allegedly violating child privacy laws and deliberately making their platforms addictive? And not only are they seeking a staggering $1 trillion. But the money is not even the craziest part. They are demanding Meta fundamentally change how their platforms operate. So if Zuck loses Instagram and Facebook could be forced to end like counts entirely and infinite scrolls, change the algorithm to make it less dopamine manipulating, remove photo filters, restrict the ability to create multiple accounts, and even end disappearing posts like Instagram stories. Now of course, Meta are denying these allegations, saying the court case will show their long-standing commitment to supporting young people. But if the ruling goes against them, it could also set a precedent for other social media platforms too, and that's why this trial is so significant for social media. It begins today and is expected to last about six weeks, so of course I'll keep you guys updated.
