My new bunkie in the halfway house furloughed from the federal penitentiary in Atwater. All I knew is that he had served more than 40 years in prison. After we were together about a week our case manager walked in and said, "Hey Mr. Bank Robert, today is your day to get a job and if you don't get a job I need you to come back with at least 10 employment applications. They want us to work in the halfway house because they take 25% of what we make. When I heard that he was a bank robber that was certainly interesting and I later learned he had robbed many many banks and also I wondered about his ability to get a job after serving so long in federal prison. Over the next few weeks we spent all of our time alone together in that room because there's total madness in the halfway house. Drugs the iPhones the hustling at the time we had the former porn star Janine serving time there for a tax case she later married a guy she met there so TMZ was hanging out side the halfway house it was just a nightmare outside of that room so we were there together in that room all day I never once asked him a question I never I never pride he occasionally would reach you know ask me a question like he saw me signing copies of my book lessons from prison he said would you go to prison for I said well long story essentially I turned the other way for money and he said you can go to prison for that I said apparently so he was incredibly respectful quiet wow he didn't say much in polite in fact if all of the dudes in a minimum security camp could be a bunk he'd like him things would be better the bathroom was meticulous he was clean he was quiet he didn't holler he didn't burp he didn't cut his toenails inside of the room like all of the guys did inside of the dorm he was incredibly respectful he didn't have any friends or family come to see him I wonder if he had any money he had one or two sets of clothes and I contemplated how I could offer things to him without being disrespectful or assuming that he needs it because that's something that's tough in prison guys need things but you don't want it prisons amassculating right so I didn't want to offer it for fear that it could be insulting so I had to kind of manage it and I did indirectly over a period of time and sometimes I would order extra food I'd say I got a ton of food here would you like it yes I gave it to him he didn't thank me but he didn't he didn't need to I found him to be interesting that I served time in a minimum security camp with guys you know drug off the nonviolent drug offenders and white collar criminals and then I'm serving time with a bank robber who turned out to be the best bunkie I ever had I was getting ready to go to home confinement he was still there unable to find a job and one day Richard was his name he went out and he never came back and I wonder till this day where he is I hope that he's well and that's my experience of living with a bank robber in the half-mouse
