Set to be one of the oldest parish churches in Lancashire, the church of All Saints and Wigan was mentioned in the Doomsday Survey of 1086. The church stands on the crest of a hill in the center of Wigan England and is at least the third building on this site. Most of the present structure was erected between 1845 and 1850, when the church was almost entirely rebuilt. With this fast history comes a number of ghostly tales. The most common ghost said to horn the grounds is that of a vicar from the 16th century that is often seen disappearing through walls. An old lady is also said to horn the church itself, thought to be a former cleaner that fell to her death.
