three movies about HIV. Number three is Rent. Now Rent is of course based off the Broadway musical. It's directed by Chris Columbus and has a lot of the original cast members from the musical returning in their roles in the film. And it's actually a very true adaptation of the musical. There's a couple of numbers they omit because the musical is completely sung through, and the movie has some dialogue and numbers interspersed. But it's actually a pretty faithful adaptation and an enjoyable film and does a really good job of portraying of the culture that went on in New York City during the time where AIDS was spreading like wildfire. Number two, I'm giving to Dallas Buyers Club because this movie just has some groundbreaking incredible performances. Jared Leto is unbelievable in this movie. Matthew McConaughey is incredible. And I think their relationship and their dynamic is the thing that makes this movie so fantastic. If you like this list and want more about other nonsense follow me. Leave me a comment with the best movie about HIV. Of course there's a few that have been made for television. There was the adaptation of the play, the normal heart. There was also the adaptation, the two part mini series of Angels in America, which is incredible. Although I wouldn't really consider both of these movies in the theatrical sense. Number one is the incomparable film directed by Jonathan Demi starring Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington, Philadelphia.
