Hundreds of women have bro-coded their LI profiles to prove the algorithm is biased toward men. And whaddya know? Their posts get markedly more reach and engagement. I mean there’s plain old bias going on here, bc deep down, people believe men are more competent than women. Especially in STEM fields yay. But the bias in the algorithm is well documented - see my post like 10 posts ago. Go to Cindy Gallop’s profile on LI to be hit over the head with it. You’ll be dumbfounded….ot honestly maybe not. LinkedIn says no, there’s nothing to see here, of course. I’ve listed a few ways folks can help elevate women on LinkedIn….but these are band-aids. More important than engaging with women’s content, sign the petition at Change.org. Listen, there’s a lot of shit going on in the world and this may seem trivial in comparison. But social media is not a game or a pastime for many women - it’s a means to an end. It’s a lever to pull for prosperity. It’s a tiny foothold. To be erased from the equation due to big tech algorithms sucks in the moment, but it’s also a canary in the coal mine. That’s what alarms me the most. Please share this with your people. We need to create change. Pressure on companies does work, and one hopes this will be an example of speaking truth to power actually making a difference. I love a friendly debate in the comments if you’re a stan for one of these. But please don’t talk about the em dash. Not a peep. We’ve had more than a lifetime full of people who feel the need to talk about this. We get one time around. Harumph. Also, women surpassed men in ChatGPT usage back in March 2025, so don’t try to tell me women are not adopting AI. THROW THOSE STUDIES OUT THE WINDOW. Women underreport bc we’re no dummies. We know our competence is already in question. The last thing we’re gonna do is tell our boss we’re using generative AI unless we’re sure we can do so without retribution.
