Growing my own coffee at home, Part 4 🌱
@tannercolsonTranscript
I'm trying to grow my own coffee trees at home and now it's been two months. That's how long ago I took these coffee cherries and squeezed the coffee beans out of them immediately planting them into these small pots. After about four weeks we started to see these sprouts come in with the coffee beans sitting on top and at six weeks they had gotten even taller looking like this. Now at the two month mark the coffee beans are expanding a lot and cracking open due to what's growing inside them. Eventually I was able to grab the cracked open shell on top of each one and slip it off really easily and it's so cool to see what was growing inside. At first it looks like a leaf but if we look even closer we can see that it's two leaves that have been tightly packed together. Over time they start to separate from each other and unfold outwards until they're laying down flat like this. So far all of them seem to be doing well and have their leaves showing except for this one which is still trying to catch up. I'm gonna keep them underneath the grow light but I'm actually going to increase the light a little bit since they'll be relying on photosynthesis now to grow. Keep following for the next update and for us to eventually be able to brew a cup of coffee that was grown during this series.
