And it doesn't care if it's real danger or just a text message. So the way to handle it is, you interrupt it physically. Press your tongue firmly to the roof of your mouth and hold to account of three. Then release it slowly and repeat this three times. This activates your cranial nerves and tells your amygdala, we're safe. And you need that signal of safety to disarm the negative emotions. Step two, drop into your body. Your thoughts are like gasoline and your body is the exit. So shift your attention out of your head and into sensation. Feel the souls of your feet and feel the palms of your hands.
