Most Americans think of Europe as the gold standard as far as countries to immigrate to. If you want to know how to move to Europe from America, I got you. First, you have to ditch the idea that you’ll be getting a job over here. That’s not happening. Second, you need to determine what type of income you earn and what dollar amount you can prove on paper. Third, schedule your exit plan consultation so you can figure out which countries will take you. Moving abroad is hard because it’s very precise. It’s not hard because any individual step is difficult. Hiring an expert can make your move across the pond much less stressful. #creatorsearchinsights

The number one mistake I see from people who are trying to move from America to Europe is that they think getting an international job offer is the way that they're going to do it. That is literally the slowest, most painful, unlikely path that you could take to move to Europe. And the reason for that is that every country has to look locally first. They have to look for candidates within their own country. And if they don't find any candidates within their own country, they broaden that search to the greater European Union. And if they don't find any candidates within that search, then they can open it up to globally. But in order to get your visa and get you actually moved there to do that job, they have to prove that you are the only person that can do this job, that nobody within the entire European Union can do this job. And I don't know about you, but I'm not that fabulous. There are other people who could do that job. And that's why they're never calling you for an interview and they're never bringing you in because there's people within the European Union that can already do that job. Along those same lines, people will think, well, okay, if I can't get the job before I'm over there, then I'll just get over there and then get the job. But a lot of the same problems still apply. If you're not a citizen of this country, then you don't necessarily have the legal right to work in the country just because you live here. It's a separate permission. So not all visas that you're going to get when you move to Europe actually allow you to work inside the country because they don't want jobs to be taken from their citizens. If you're new here, I'm Veronica, the minimalist international mom helping you change your life and move abroad. It's stop waiting for the unicorn perfect job that you and you alone can do on this entire planet and instead create one of the three kinds of income that allow you to move to Europe and live your life by bringing the income with you. Those three kinds of income are retirement income, passive income and remote income. You can arrive in Europe with your income locked in and just enjoy your life on this side of the ocean. My husband, my kids and I all move to Portugal on the D7 Retirement Visa, which allows for passive income in order to qualify. If you're ready to make your escape to Europe, click on the link in my bio and schedule your exit consultation where I can help you customize a unique exit plan for you and your family to come live abroad.

I used to think about freedom a lot. It felt like I was always having to fight for my freedom and the freedom of others. One day it dawned on me, that if I was free I wouldn’t have to spend my time protesting, advocating, and donating. American’s are taught to believe ‘freedom isn’t free.’ But, I now realize, that is just propaganda. True freedom is being able to send your kids to school without the possibility of them being shot. True freedom is being able to love who you want to love and marry who you want to marry. True freedom is having complete control over your own body as long as it doesn’t affect other people. True freedom is having access to accurate and truthful information instead of indoctrination. There are hundreds of freedoms that exist internationally that Americans do not have. Stop blindly believing you have freedom while at the same time needing to constantly fight for it. #creatorsearchinsights

I did not take the decision to leave the United States lightly. My kids and I were out at protests and political rallies all summer in 2020. And then it hit me. I had been politically active since for 20 years. Mayoral campaigns in Seattle. Rock the vote events for Ben & Jerry’s. Door to door registration for Kerry. President of VOX for Planned Parenthood on my college campus. Phone banked for Obama. Donations to Bernie and Yang. I fought the good fight for the majority of my life. Nothing changed because I protested or volunteered or gave money. In fact, things had gotten worse in meaningful ways. One day I realized that fighting mentally was not what I wanted for my daughter’s. The United States is crumbling and even if it eventually turns around, I am not willing to waste more years on getting back to where we started. What do you think of my visualization on how I imagine America today? #creatorsearchinsights

Analysis paralysis is stopping so much goodness from coming into your life. Everyone who contacts me wants to be sure about their decision to move abroad before they take action. They think one more fact or one more piece of information is going to make things crystal clear. That is just not reality. My biggest tip for leaving the country smoothly is to do it without a definite plan. The most dissatisfied expats are the ones who go in with certain expectations that are ultimately not met. Your number one skill as an American moving abroad is adaptability. Stop trying to control every aspect of a process as complicated as immigration. Go forward with a road map and your savvy life skills. The reason there is no ultimate international move handbook is because every situation is unique. There is no best place to move. There is no complete checklist. There is no guaranteed path. You are charging a path that only brave Americans ever take. Take bold action. Moving abroad will change your life in the most magical ways. #creatorsearchinsights

The invisible stress of the United States isn’t talked about enough. Our physical health is being affected by the constant pressure, fear, anxiety, expectations, and failures of America. As parents we are powerless to keep our kids safe. You convince yourself that you’re doing the best you can. But are you? In all seriousness, this is not a phase. You’re raising your kids in a society where basic rights need to be fought for constantly. That kind of hyper vigilance and forced lifetime advocacy is exhausting. Leaving was the best thing we ever did for our kids, our mental health, and our physical health. #creatorsearchinsights
