People love to give me reasons why I should have stayed in the United States, but there are not enough positives to outweigh this one negative. And that is guns. If you look at guns in America, they make every single part of your day more dangerous. And more than that, they make your kids' lives more dangerous. There's an estimated 400,000 students who have been in a school, when a school shooting has happened. That is 10 Fenway parks all put together filled to capacity. And those are the traumatized students that we are leaving in the wake of the Second Amendment. Not only that, but mass shootings just out in public, like grocery stores, concerts, movie theaters, malls, all the places that we should feel safe to just go and hang out on our weekends. Those places are so much more dangerous than everywhere else in the world. I don't think people quite understand the math on this. If you take the 35 most similar countries to the United States and add up all of their mass shootings, America has triple that number. In fact, if you move to the second most dangerous country of mass shootings, you will have reduced your risk of being in a mass shooting by 94%. That's how dramatic the math is on the actual data having to do with mass shootings. So it's not really just an opinion about why you should stay versus why you should go. I can't find any positive that would outweigh the fact that guns make every part of your life more dangerous. Understandably, Americans are going to use all kinds of fallacies and justifications for why it's okay to stay in the United States, why it's better to stay in the United States. And they want to tell me all the reasons why the United States is better. But if you're one of those people that's out there questioning that concept and you think maybe it's not actually as good as we've been led to believe, I'm the right account for you. We haven't met yet. I'm Veronica and five years ago I took my family of four out of the United States for good because guns are not something I'm going to tolerate in my kids' lives. I am not going to live in fear. I am not going to let my kids become a statistic of the hundreds of thousands of kids that have now experienced gun violence in a school. So my question to you is how do you raise children in good conscience in the most dangerous place for school children in the entire developed world.

Take back your power and make active life choices. You only have 3 options in this current political climate. The first two options “feel” like action because you are doing things. But, neither of those options put you in control of the outcome. Only option 3 gives you complete control over both the choice and the outcome. Learning how to choose your life path instead of letting life happen to you is the key to happiness. Leaving the United States of America was the best choice my family ever made. Stop making your dreams so basic. You keep creating goals that are tied to your current reality. Every plan for your future is too small. You are being too realistic. Nothing that seems possible is worth your time. When you envision your future life it should be so wildly disconnected from your current reality that it inspires action. Only crazy insane unrealistic goals will inspire you to take action. All those watered down ideas you have are based on expectations. The world “expects” you to follow a certain path and you comply. You don’t have to. Anything you’re “supposed” to do is utter bullshit. At the end of your life you will never regret the risks you took, only the opportunities you missed. #creatorsearchinsights
I used to think about freedom a lot. It felt like I was always having to fight for my freedom and the freedom of others. One day it dawned on me, that if I was free I wouldn’t have to spend my time protesting, advocating, and donating. American’s are taught to believe ‘freedom isn’t free.’ But, I now realize, that is just propaganda. True freedom is being able to send your kids to school without the possibility of them being shot. True freedom is being able to love who you want to love and marry who you want to marry. True freedom is having complete control over your own body as long as it doesn’t affect other people. True freedom is having access to accurate and truthful information instead of indoctrination. There are hundreds of freedoms that exist internationally that Americans do not have. Stop blindly believing you have freedom while at the same time needing to constantly fight for it. #creatorsearchinsights
I did not take the decision to leave the United States lightly. My kids and I were out at protests and political rallies all summer in 2020. And then it hit me. I had been politically active since for 20 years. Mayoral campaigns in Seattle. Rock the vote events for Ben & Jerry’s. Door to door registration for Kerry. President of VOX for Planned Parenthood on my college campus. Phone banked for Obama. Donations to Bernie and Yang. I fought the good fight for the majority of my life. Nothing changed because I protested or volunteered or gave money. In fact, things had gotten worse in meaningful ways. One day I realized that fighting mentally was not what I wanted for my daughter’s. The United States is crumbling and even if it eventually turns around, I am not willing to waste more years on getting back to where we started.
