There are five things I advise my clients to set up prior to moving abroad in order to make the transition much smoother I'm Veronica, and if you ask me how I know these are the things you should do before you move It's because I didn't do any of them before I move and now I know better I teach my clients how to do things better than I did them so that you don't have all of the snaffos that I did when I moved abroad with my family Number one is to pre-order your paperwork. Some of this paperwork takes longer than others depending on the situation And you want to make sure you have your burst certificate your marriage license your divorce decree any adoption paperwork Potentially your vaccination records or transcripts maybe driving records all of these things have different timelines in which you need to order them And then your criminal background check you can't order that too early because it has an expiration date of three or six months Depending on the country that you're dealing with number two is to set up your health insurance Virtually every visa requires you to get some sort of stopgap insurance that that fills the gap between when you are moving there And when you potentially get on their socialized medicine plan So you're going to need to make sure that you have a plan that is going to work for you in that country and fulfills whatever Requirements the most common requirement is repatriation of your body if you were to pass away in that country before you actually get on Their socialized insurance number three is to figure out how you're going to get money from the United States to the new Country so that's going to be setting up a bank account in the new place or using one of the online banks that Operates in the country that you'll be living and make sure that you're doing it with as low of fees as possible Number four is going to be to port your cell phone number over to a company that is not a V O IP I don't even know what that stands for but it means that it's an internet number and not a real cell phone number And that's going to prevent some banking institutions from being able to send that code for the two factor proof To that number so you want to make sure that it's a real cell phone company that you basically have put your phone number on to It's minimal cost so that you're not paying a bunch of money just to be able to log into your accounts back home And number five is going to be to set up a remote virtual mailbox Do not count on friends and family to be checking your mail constantly when who knows how long you're going to be gone There are mail providers that will actually scan your mail deposit checks shred your mail Forward the mail on to you in your new country depending on what it is and those services are pretty reasonable cost in order to make sure that you're able to get those important Documents that you just cannot get any other way than good old snail mail for more details on what to prepare before moving abroad You can check out my nomadic family starter guide, which is linked in my bio That has everything I wish I knew before I took my family up for and left the country for good There's a lot of things that you just don't realize you should have done to prepare before you ever leave

If you think living abroad is not easy, try losing your kid to gun violence. This might sound harsh, but gun violence at school is entirely predictable at this point. You can’t claim you didn’t know this could happen. All the mental gymnastics you are doing to convince yourself that it’s not that bad could be put into finding a way to move abroad. Safety is the norm abroad. Bad things happen at statistically lower rates, giving your child a much better chance of surviving un-traumatized. There will be lots of ways I screw my kids up as a parent, but my decision to take them overseas will never be a mistake. Your kids deserve to be kids. Stop raising them in the hard environment of the United States. 🆘🇺🇸 #creatorsearchinsights

You need to learn to vet the advice you get online. If it were just as easy as finding a job in Europe, everyone would have left already. You can’t get hired as an American in Europe without visa sponsorship. Intracompany transfers are a shortcut for multinational companies sponsoring their own employees. Brand new hires would require rigorous work sponsorship requirements, relocation packages, and long delays before any work is actually being done. You can see why getting hired by a European company is a unicorn opportunity. The only possible way you could go about doing this is using the shortage lists as a guide for roles you are targeting. Shortage lists are roles the government is fast tracking work sponsorship visas for because they are in serious need of more talent in that area. 🆘🇺🇸 #creatorsearchinsights

Replying to @amanda90m When people claim they are doing “everything” they can, it’s awkward to tell them they aren’t. Almost always those interactions end with them being placated. I think the mere fact that moms are putting up with the United States in its current form is proof that you aren’t doing enough. We have been conditioned to believe shootings in schools are just a normal part of raising children. America is absolutely bonkers. You can pack a bag and leave by car to Mexico. Why haven’t you? Because you need to know ten million things before you go? No you don’t. All you need to know is that there are less school shootings in literally every other country versus America. Thinking about all the ways in which it is impossible to leave is not doing something. Taking action and getting your kids out is doing something. 🆘🇺🇸

Replying to @forester8084 Before you hone in on one particular country I help you explore your options. I’m not the right person to hire if you already know you want to move to Canada or Mexico or Portugal. Even though I live in Portugal and know that system intimately, that’s not my zone of genius. I help you take a global look at visa options for your personal situation. Moving out of America shouldn’t just happen because you read one article and thought it might be nice to live in the country they talked about. You are likely eligible to live in dozens of countries. So, my expertise is helping you understand where you qualify to live and narrowing the list until we find the one that suits you best. 🆘🇺🇸
