Americans are filled with hope every time an election goes their way. Under democratic control there are better conditions for everyone. It’s only under republican control that rights are taken away, infringed upon, and lives are negatively impacted. But, the push and pull means there is always uncertainty. One step forward and three steps back. This election is no different. Don’t get too excited. It will take a long time to get back to the pre-Trump era. 🆘🇺🇸

There was another election night in the United States and yay, I think you're celebrating because the Democrats did well and people seem happy about that, which I mean, I guess that is a positive thing. But I do want you to remember that even though your party won right now, the best that you can hope for is during their time in office, they're going to fight and claw back to the starting line. Over the last 10 years, your rights have already been eroded. Everything has already been infringed on and things are already on the books that are going to take a long time to unravel. And it's not going to be easy for them to get you back to where you were before the Trump era. Back when truth mattered and facts mattered and people actually doing their jobs mattered, all that will happen now is damage control. This is going to be a bandaid on an open wound. We cannot change the fact that our president is using cruelty as a political strategy and the Democrats at the lower levels will not be able to change that rhetoric. I spent so many years being hopeful, fighting for change, volunteering, being politically active because I thought that all of that work, effort, heartache, and energy was going to pay off in some way, pay off with progress. And every single time, even on the local level, I have been just so utterly dismayed. It has been an utter disaster because every good outcome is only temporary. Everything you do will come crashing down when the next shithead gets into office and so it's all for nothing. So while you are over there in the United States celebrating this win as if this is going to mean progress, I would like you to stop lying to yourself and recognize that the only progress that can happen is when you take accountability and take action for yourself. It is not the politicians that are going to save you and your family. It has to be you. You can make the choice to get out of that chaos and find somewhere that is statistically safer, where you will have better odds across everything, where you will have better odds on everything, from education to safety to health, all of it is actually statistically better when you move out of the United States.
