There is not set of standardized requirement for moving abroad. Each country has documents they require, which are what you’d expect: Birth Certificate Background Check Financial Information Passport Marriage Certificate Sometimes: health certificates, educational records, and letters of intent. But, the trick is that each country has different rules about how the records must be presented. Apostilles, translations, certified translations, certified copies, or notarized. So, before you start gathering documents, be sure you know which country and which exact visa you are applying for. The one thing you must do to move abroad is figure out the requirements of the visa that you are going to apply for and start gathering documents for that specific visa. All the time people ask me what can they do in order to start preparing, but the reality is the requirements for your individual visa are going to be very specific. Do you need an aposteele or don't you need an aposteele? Do they need to be translated or don't they? Does it need to be a certified translator? Do you need to have certified copies? Do you need it to be notarized? Which documents do you even need? How many months old can they be? When do those documents expire? It's your responsibility to gather all the requirements for your specific visa application. It is not a standardized list, there's no master list anywhere on the internet who's going to tell you how to apply for any random visa, it is all so specific. But before you get tunnel vision on which country you're choosing and which specific visa you're going to apply for, I do recommend taking a step back, zooming out and looking at all of your options and that's what I specialize in. The incentive to work has been fundamentally changed. In America the corporate culture used to represent a series of benefits that were bestowed on workers for grinding away at their careers. At each level of a career there were tangible benefits that they could receive as a reflection of their years of efforts. Paychecks no longer allow workers to afford those levels of living. Vacations, home ownership, new cars, and luxuries used to be a natural part of the corporate ladder life path.
