American Christianity has become unrecognizable from the teachings it claims to follow, and the cruelty is the point now, not the unfortunate byproduct. When religious identity becomes political identity, the religion part gets hollowed out and replaced with team loyalty. What remains isn't faith system with moral framework. It's in-group signaling where cruelty toward out-group becomes proof of devotion. This is why you can watch people who claim to follow Jesus - whose entire message was compassion for suffering, protection of vulnerable, rejection of wealth and power - actively celebrate policies that harm the most vulnerable while enriching the most powerful. The cognitive dissonance doesn't exist because religion isn't guiding their values. Political identity guides their values and religion is aesthetic they perform to signal belonging. American evangelical Christianity has become political movement cosplaying as religion. Infrastructure is churches, language is scripture, gathering is worship, but actual function is political organizing and wealth extraction disguised as faith. This was deliberate strategy over decades to merge religious identity with conservative political identity so completely that questioning political positions feels like questioning faith itself. Result is people who can laugh at suffering of others, celebrate violence against perceived enemies, support policies that contradict stated values - while believing they're acting righteously because political tribe rebranded cruelty as strength and compassion as weakness. Tax-exempt megachurches functioning as political organizing centers while pastors fly private jets funded by people who can barely afford rent isn't bug. It's the feature. System working as designed. Religion in America has become prosperity gospel meets nationalism meets white grievance, wrapped in Christian language but bearing no resemblance to actual teachings of Christ. People most harmed - poor, vulnerable, marginalized that Christ centered - told their suffering is their own fault while people exploiting them claim to be doing God's work. Mockery of others' fear and pain isn't deviation from American Christianity. It's core feature. Once you've redefined Christianity as political loyalty, anyone outside that tribe stops being human deserving compassion and becomes enemy deserving contempt. This is what happens when tax-exempt institutions function as political organizations while claiming religious protection. Radicalization pipeline disguised as worship, wealth extraction disguised as tithing, political organizing disguised as ministry. Democrats' failure to challenge this infrastructure - tax exemptions funding political activity, religious language masking hate speech, churches functioning as campaign headquarters - has allowed it to metastasize. Cannot reason with movement that convinced followers cruelty is righteousness and compassion is sin. Can only recognize it for what it is and stop pretending it's good-faith religious expression deserving respect. Watched religious people celebrate suffering and call it faith? ๐๐บ๐ธ

One of the things that irritates me so much about religious people in the United States is how much hatred they have in their hearts, because I am not a religious person. I used to be, I used to be religious like so many people, but the lessons of Jesus and the love of the high neighbor and the, you know, helping the homeless and the poor and all of these things, it is so far disconnected from the way religion behaves now in the United States that I just don't understand how they can call themselves religious. Now, I don't know if you know how scared people in Greenland were when Trump was threatening to take over Greenland by any means necessary and people were making, you know, contingency plans, trying to figure out what to do with their elderly family members and how to get to the mainland to flee for their safety. It was scary, legitimately scary, and I have a mega family member who, when talking about this subject was laughing and was saying how ridiculous it was that they were scared because so Trump's not really going to do that, and I walked away from the conversation because I did not want to lose my shit on this person because it's like what about your humanity allows you to laugh at people's legitimate fear for their lives. That is not a religious base, you cannot be a religious person and think to yourself at the same time other people's pain, suffering, and fear is hilarious. Those two things cannot coexist, so the performative religion that exists in the United States is so beyond me at this point, and I don't understand how we have all still acquiesced these people and we just let them continue to be absolute, horrible individuals. They have such hateful hearts, and everything they do is so selfish and narcissistic that I don't understand it. I don't understand it. Everything the Democrats do going forward should fight against these mechanisms that allow this, no more non-profit status for the church, no more being able to indoctrinate people from the pulpit. Be done with this. This is such a toxic entity that we have created in the United States, and I cannot wait for the day when that is in the past instead of what's happening currently in the United States.

The best countries to move to are not one size fits all. Before you get your hopes up about any particular country, I suggest you take a step back. Determine your visa eligibility first. Some countries are trying to attract retirees. Other countries are welcoming digital nomads. And there are countries only looking for wealthy expats. The life you've built in America isn't the life you wanted. It's the life you could scrape together under constraints of: wages that don't cover basics, healthcare tied to employment, housing costs consuming half your income, constant financial stress, survival mode as default state. You didn't choose misery. You chose best option available within impossible constraints. But those constraints are geographic. Change geography, change constraints, change what's possible. The apartment you can barely afford in America becomes the nice place with breathing room abroad. The paycheck that barely covers survival in America becomes the income that allows saving abroad. The constant stress about one emergency destroying you financially becomes manageable situation where emergencies are expensive but not catastrophic. Same income. Same skills. Same person. Different location. Completely different life. You're not stuck because you lack resources. You're stuck because resources you have don't work in location you're in. Move those resources to location where they work better, and you're not stuck anymore. But moving requires: tolerating uncertainty about how things will work out, being uncomfortable while figuring out new systems, releasing familiar patterns even when familiar is miserable, trusting you can build better life from scratch. Most people choose familiar misery over unfamiliar uncertainty. Devil you know feels safer than devil you don't, even when devil you know is grinding you down. This is why people stay in: jobs they hate, relationships that don't work, locations that don't serve them, lives that feel like slow suffocation. Because at least they know how to survive current misery. Unknown is terrifying even when unknown might be better. But what if you're not choosing between misery and uncertainty? What if you're choosing between: familiar misery that will continue indefinitely, or temporary uncertainty that leads to actually building life you want? When you're in survival mode, you're making choices based on: what's cheapest, what's fastest, what gets you through next month, what keeps crisis at bay. Not what you actually want. What you can manage given constraints. Those choices compound into life that doesn't reflect your preferences. Reflects what you could piece together while drowning. But when you move somewhere your income works better, you're not in survival mode anymore. You have breathing room to choose based on: what you actually want, what serves your family, what creates life you're proud of. That's not small difference. That's the difference between life you're enduring and life you're choosing. Living in America isn't default you're stuck with. It's choice you're making every day by not choosing differently. And choosing differently is available to you. Link in bio for people ready to choose. What would you choose if survival wasn't consuming all your energy? ๐๐บ๐ธ
