Positioning as a content creator lays the foundation for absolutely everything

You're stuck at under 10,000 followers. It's probably because you're positioning as a content creator isn't clear enough. If you're stuck at under 50,000 followers, it's probably because your positioning isn't strong enough. And if you're stuck at under 100,000 followers, it's probably because your positioning isn't unique enough. Positioning is not the only thing that impacts growth, but I have worked with thousands of content creators and I am telling you now, it is a key indicator of whether an account takes off or not. And positioning is basically this. If somebody landed on your account today, would they be able to concisely describe it to a stranger tomorrow? It's who you are, what you post about who your content is for and what somebody's gonna get from you long term. And it comes through your bio, but it should also come through in every single video you post. But when you're starting and you're trying to get to 10,000 followers, the priority is clarity. You just need to make what you post about very, very clear. As a key mistake, I see a lot of smaller creators making is trying to be interesting before you're even understandable. Though a good way to test this is to pick three random videos that you've posted as a lit and show them to a friend or a family member and ask that person, would you be able to determine what I post about from these three random videos? Ideally, somebody who has never watched your content before. Then once you're trying to go from 10,000 to 50,000, you need strength in your positioning. And usually what this means is just making your content a bit more specific. So rather than fitness content, it's fitness content for women over 40, rather than budgeting tips, it's budgeting tips for single working mums. Now, it does sound counter intuitive to try and shrink your audience in order to grow, but this is the way it works. Because people will follow content creators when they feel sane. People don't follow information. They follow identities. And then when you're trying to get to 100,000 and beyond, your positioning needs to be unique. It needs to be different. It needs to stand out. You need to be somewhat irreplaceable. Why would somebody follow you rather than the 500 other accounts that post about the same stuff? Maybe it's your opinions, maybe it's your story, maybe it's your personality, maybe it's your sense of humor, maybe it's the style of content you create, but there needs to be something about your content that makes you difficult to replace. So to get to 10K, you need to be understood to get to 50K, you need to be relevant, and to get to 100K and beyond, you need to be somewhat irreplaceable. But I have an entire module on positioning in the content club, which is my course on community for content creators. It's actually one of the first things I teach, because if you get this right, you lay the foundations for really good growth and results. If you want to learn more about this, send me a DM and I will give you a discount code for the content club.
