I always struggled to get my clothing designs off the ground. Not because people didn't like them, but because I couldn't find a factory who'd let me trap my ideas with a small budget. So I decided I'd go out to China and hunt for the ones that would, because there has to be at least some. However, on past trips, I encountered literally thousands of dead ends. The factory after factory, they wouldn't give a shit about letting me test out some of my more creative ideas, because I wasn't a huge established brand, but it never stopped me. How do you accommodate for smaller brands that would maybe want smaller orders than some of your bigger clients? For now, we open the new shop because we know the hardware, want to make it, make the bra and assemble quicker, quicker. We hope every brand which cooperated with us will become a big brand, yeah. My strategy was the more I speak to, the more I'll learn. And eventually, I started to build up an arsenal of factories that were willing to listen. They saw how the market was shifting, the small independent designers were starting to take over the big guys. I really found the hidden gems. More importantly, I realised the dream that I started out with. Now I have the freedom to create whatever I visualise, and I know my factories would deliver. The game is changing for small brands. It's never been easier to use the resources of the big brands and to innovate. Take advantage of it. Comment brand if you're interested in working with any of these suppliers.
