How deeply you mother yourself is going to determine how successful and happy you are in your life. And for better or for worse, the relationships we have with our actual mothers, no matter how layered or how complex they are, inform the foundation of how we feel about ourselves, how we take care of ourselves, how we show up in our relationships, in our careers, you name it. And so when I work with clients, one of the very first things that I do is we have a session where we explore the relationships to our mothers, but we don't just explore these relationships. We actually move through the relationship we have with our human mother in total awareness and love and like full spectrum compassion, but then we also in state and more empowered relationship to the archetypal mother. And I find that a lot of us need a relationship to our own inner mother or to the great mother, right? By the way, she was the central figure of all of the religious and spiritual cosmologies on this planet for tens of thousands of years pre the Abrahamic religions, right? So there really is this relationship that we can have to a greater mother, not just as this animate force, this deity, this mythic archetypal power, but it mirrors our own internal mothering capacity. And when we talk about self love, when we talk about healthy relationships, when we talk about having ambition and drive and like showing up to be in service to the world by really honoring the work that you're here to do, it all comes down to how much, how well, how lovingly you have integrated your human mother, the great mother, your inner mother.
