This is how I recommend experimenting with your content properly

The most basic rule of being a successful content creator is finding what works and then doubling down on it like crazy. But the only problem is, different things work for different people, and while some creators can get pretty lucky and figure out what that is quickly, most people need to experiment and use a bit of trial and error to get there. If you're going to experiment, you need to do it in a really controlled way. Because if you threw too much shit in the wall, and something does start to work, you're not going to know what it is that made the difference. You're going to talk you through how I would recommend experimenting with your content and the order in which I would recommend doing things. I recommend starting with the topics, the things that you talk about in your content, because honestly, about 80% of the success comes down to this. And from a practical point of view, the algorithm categorizes you as a content creator pretty quickly, so if you're jumping from topic to topic, it's going to be harder to gather data to do that effectively. Also, it's hard to build momentum this way, and it's hard to grow followers if you're constantly appealing to different audiences. Ideally, you want to talk about things that you're really interested in, that you're really passionate about, and I recommend picking no more than like four mean topics. But also, you want to try and add something new to the conversation, so I recommend answering these questions before you're picking topics. Number one, can I do what's already being done in this space, but can I do it better than other creators? Is there something new that I can add to the conversation entirely? Do I have opinions on this topic, especially disruptive opinions that are different to what is already being said, or do I have an experience relating to this topic that is a little bit different that people might find relatable or helpful or interesting? Then we move on to the value. We start experimenting with values, so you keep the topics the same, you find your topics, but you experiment with how you present them. In my course, the content club, I have a module called the four creator archetypes, because in my experience, there are four mean types of content creators to offer four mean types of value. We have educators, who obviously educate their audience. Then we have what I call the messenger, and these usually offer perspective shifts, opinions, myth busting, harsh traits, those kind of mic drop moments. Then we have storytellers, and their value is their reliability, they validate their audience, they maybe provide some humor to their audience as well, and you'll usually find this with lifestyle creators. And then finally, we have vibe bringers, as I call them in the content club, but they're entertaining creators. Their content is visually really engaging, satisfying to watch, they maybe provide some escapism. You don't decide what your value is, your audience decides this, so you need to experiment to figure out which one you're best at. Then finally, you experiment with your format, and we do this last, because typically this makes the least amount of difference. And I generally recommend sticking to formats that are easier for you to do and more enjoyable as well, because that way you'll be more likely to stick at it, you'll also be able to create more volume of content, and your energy will be better. But sometimes it's worth experimenting, because I have clients that have switched from talking to camera to maybe like photo carousel posts, they end up performing better because their content is better absorbed through the written word. Then once you've got all of these things right, that's maybe when you can start experimenting with high often you should post, and what time of day you should post. Those things make very little difference until you get all of this right first.
