I just left my best friend's birthday early because she called me a "B-list guest" through time. So I'm 30 years old and my best friend Amy and I had been friends since we were 80 years old. We were literally inseparable all throughout school. As we got older we would always visit each other at uni and as usual when you get older you know you do tend to drift apart a little bit but we always remain very very friendly and we communicate it often. And then when she got married when she was 25 I did get offered made of honour but I had to kind that and just chose to be a bride's maid instead. I lived about three hours away from her at the time and I didn't feel like I'd be a good maid of honour being so far away from her. Since then we have also found out that her husband that she was getting married to has cheated on her and I was there to support her through it all. Basically what I'm trying to tell you is that we were always there to support one another no matter what. So last week was Amy's 30th birthday and since she was a big bird they she booked it out. It was this big old thing she booked out of Hotel Banquit Hall. I booked that same hotel so I could stay overnight. So when I arrived at the party I was ushered into this other room with about four tables and ten people in it. There was a portable TV in the corner of the room and this TV was streaming the main party that was happening in another room. It was like some sort of Met Gala Super Bowl with stream situation. One of the other guests told me that Amy had invited more people than the capacity of the main room so she was hoping that quite a few people would RSVP know and then they could be transferred to the main room. But when only like one or two people RSVP know she was stuck so she hired out this second room for the be listed. There was people arriving after I got there so I knew for a fact that I wasn't just like relegate because I turned up late and I was actually on the main list. So I was really hooked by this obviously so I grabbed my gift and I took myself away out of 15 minutes of being there. A little while after that I get a call from Amy and she's like hey where are you like I came to check on the leftovers room and you weren't there. The leftovers room. So obviously I tell her Amy I did attend but I didn't realise I'd be live streaming your birthday party. Which in this case I could have just done this from home instead of trekking halfway across the country paying money for a hotel room. She then says to me well do you want to catch a full lunch and other time you can give me my gift then? I'm sorry I told her I'm so sorry but I have planned so I'm going to go back home. Cute the Instagram story. She basically posted a story saying it's so sad when people cling to love you but then don't show up for you. She said that she can't help that so many people wanted to celebrate her birthday with her. That's what tends to happen when you invite people. And then during my drive home her mum left me a voicemail telling me that she was so disappointed in me. But I'm sorry I'm so busy your best friend you've left me in the be list of room then being weird when I said that I left because I didn't want to be in the be list room. Should I have handled this any differently?
