am i wrong for allowing my boyfriend to think that my family are rich and him making bad financial decisions because of it? story time. so i've been dating my boyfriend who will call Steve for about a year and a half. we met when i was out with a group of friends a year ago and the conversation came up of where we all grew up. no in this conversation i mentioned where i was from which just happens to be a very very wealthy area and then he asked if my parents still lived there and i was like yeah they do they've never left. but what i didn't mention is that they rent the house and they always have. now my parents moved into this area way before it became like a big fancy area. since then Steve has just been making all of these tiny little assumptions joking about how i'm secretly loaded all that i would probably inherit the house one day. just decided i'm gonna try and recreate it in craes met gole make up. so at first i laughed it off because i just felt so awkward like correcting him on it and like especially so early on in the relationship as well i was trying to not cause drama but over time these assumptions just got bigger and bigger. he is chatting about how we're not gonna have to worry about money because that obviously gonna inherit loads eventually and i tried to downplay it a few times when i say my family is not flashy with money but i never outright said the truth and if you're thinking oh my gosh this can't get any worse things can. my boyfriend has always hated his job. you see where this is going and last month he told me he was thinking about leaving his job and i said didn't listen you need to have something else lined up before you move on that has worked so well go me. but he said something that made my stomach drop. Steve says to me honestly i'm not actually worried about money long term. once your family house sells we are gonna be just buying. brother work was like um he said honestly don't worry that area is worth absolute millions and i realized in that moment he genuinely believes i'm sitting on a massive stack of money. it's literally giving that he sees me as the picture of wealth and then two weeks ago this man you guessed it which his job and now i feel like all of this has gone on way too long and i'm massively feeling like this is all my fault because i never corrected the resumption and now he has made this huge live decision based on it.
