Do you want to build a cult like following of people who are obsessed with your content? Their fingers are tip-topping on their phones as soon as their eyes open in the morning, running to your account to see what you've posted. They trust everything you say. They are loyal to you until they die. They will buy anything you're selling. Okay, well, if you want to do that, you need to create a chin mint content. A chin mint is your ability to make your audience feel deeply, deeply understood. Whenever they watch your content, they think, oh my god, that is so me. That's exactly how I feel. How did that person get in my hand? And you don't do this by sharing tips or advice or expertise. You do this by being painfully relatable by perfectly describing a feeling or an experience that your audience has had that they can't put into words. Because when a chin mint happens, something really interesting happens psychologically with your audience. They start to perceive you as safer, more credible, more trustworthy, almost instantly. Because as humans, we trust people who understand us. Like, think about it. If you have anxiety, for example, who are you going to trust more? The person that comes on screen and says something like, here are five tips to get rid of anxiety for good. Or the person that comes on screen and says something like, you know that feeling when you're stressed and you can't get a deep enough breath, like that really satisfying breath when you're young. The first person knows about anxiety, but the second person understands it. And there's a massive difference. The most successful high performance content creators are not always the smartest people. They're not always the most skilled when it comes to creating content. But they're often the most attuned. They notice the tiny little details that their audience will recognize. The everyday frustrations, the little inner monologues, the little painful moments. Give you an example of this. I was working with a content creator the other day who makes content about empty nesting and having adult children. And her content works so well because it's highly attuned. She's not making videos like, here are three things to do when your kids move out. It's stuff about the everyday, how quiet her house is. What it's like to just eat by yourself after feeding a family for years. What happens at 7pm on a Tuesday when your body remembers that that's the time you took your kids to baseball practice. This is why understanding your audience so deeply is absolutely key. And that's why it's one of the first things that I teach in the content club, which is my course on community for content creators. Because when you can get really specific with your examples, your stories, the way that you freeze things, you make people feel understood. And when you make people feel understood, that's what makes them addicted to what you post.
