One of the things that I hate about myself is how sensitive I am. Because it's so embarrassing how much things affect you sometimes. Like you can feel your chest drop over something small. And the first thought in your head isn't even about the thing that hurt you. It's just this quiet shame. Like, why am I like this? Why does everything get to me so easily? And you hate that part of yourself so much. Because in your head being sensitive just feels like being weak. Like you're the kind of person who can't handle anything. And the last thing you ever want is for people to see you that way. So you train yourself to hide it. You swallow the reaction. You force your face to stay normal. You act like it didn't touch you at all. Even when you feel it sitting inside your chest hours later. And the worst part is you end up stuck in this weird place where nothing feels right. Because showing that your hurt feels humiliating. But pretending you're not hurts in a different way too. Because now you're carrying the feeling alone. And also pretending it doesn't exist. And sometimes you even start getting mad at yourself for feeling things in the first place. Like you wish you could just be one of those people who brushes things off easily. Who doesn't replay small moments in their head. Who doesn't feel their stomach drop over words that everyone else already forgot. But that's not how you're built. And even though you know that deep down. You still keep acting like you're someone who feels nothing. Because for some reason, being quiet about the pain feels less embarrassing than letting anyone see how much things actually get to you.
