I wrong for refusing to buy my nephew any more gifts after he complained the one I got him wasn't good enough. My daughter turned 17 last month and after years of saving, I managed to get her a car for her birthday. Nothing fancy just a reliable runaround. I have it for learners to drive in and eventually use him for college and work. My nephew is also 17 and his birthday is the day after my daughters. He lives a few hours away so I usually send him a gift in the post. Because he got the car a bit cheaper than I was expecting, I had a bit of leftover money so I thought I'd treat him to a PS5 that he's wanted for ages. A few days after I realised I hadn't heard from him, the text or a thank you which is unusual. A message asked him if he liked his gift and he didn't respond. So I called my sister just to make sure it had actually arrived. That's when she told me my nephew was disappointed. Apparently because I bought my daughter a car he thought I'd buy him one. My sister agreed and said it wasn't fair he and got a console when I knew she wouldn't be able to afford a car. I was stunned especially because my sister hadn't got my daughter anything for her that afternoon. Now I've decided I'm done by an expensive gift, three of them. Sister says I'm overreacting and punishing her son for being honest. Am I wrong for deciding not to buy them gifts anymore?
