And my wrong for refusing to pay for childcare at my friend's wedding. One of my closest friends is getting married later this year. And when the invitation first went out, it was advertised as a family friendly wedding. So my husband and I are SPPDS and plan to bring along our two children. A few months later the bride sent a message saying that she'd organise professional childcare for the wedding so that adults could enjoy the reception without having to worry about the kids. At first I thought it sounded like quite a nice idea, but then she explained that each parent would need to pay £50 per child to cover the costs. For us that'll be £100 on top of travel, accommodation, gifts, outfits and everything else that comes with pretending a wedding. I'm quite told that we couldn't justify the extra cost and that we just keep our children with us or if that wasn't allowed we reconsider our attendance. She said it was unfair because everyone else was paying and accused me of not supporting her big day. A mutual friend agrees that £50 is completely reasonable. But I feel like if childcare is mandatory, a couple should be covering the cost themselves. Instead of surprising guests with a bill after they've already RSVP'd. Am I wrong for not wanting to pay the extra £50 per child just to attend the wedding?
