The whole point of life is love. Some people will tell you different. They'll tell you with success, money, fame. But I don't think that's true. If you really think about every reason we choose to stay alive, it leads back to love. Why do people spend years trying to build a career? Because they love the feeling of creating something, or providing for someone or making their parents proud? Why do we board planes to places we've never been? Because we love good food and warm beaches and sand between our toes. The way salt clings to our skin, the smell of sunscreen, the feeling of ocean water, hugging our ankles. Why do we fill our houses with books? Because we fall in love with lives, we'll never get to live. Why does music exist? Because sometimes love is too large for basic conversation. Why do strangers sit around campfires? Why do they dance at weddings? Why do they call their mothers just to say they made it home? Love. Everything we live for is because of love. The love of Sunday mornings, fresh coffee, dogs who wait by the front door. The first warm day after winter, the sound of rain gets your bedroom window and laughing so hard around the kitchen table. People think love is something you find, but I think it's what keeps the world spinning. It's the reason we keep planting gardens, even though winter always comes. The reason we wave at our neighbors, the reason we rescue stray dogs, right birthday cards, hold doors open, kiss scraped knees, stay on the phone a little longer when someone sounds sad. Love exists in every single thing that we do. We spend so much time trying to make a living. when a thing that makes us live has always been love.
